Though it was really hot that day, lots of people showed up on all kinds of bikes. There were games of polo going on, some BMX riders showing off, nice track and road bikes plus some interesting characters with crazy looking bikes. For full gallery click here
We love the fact that this rider found this frame in a trash and converted to a perfectly functioning single speed bike. Not only this bike is functioning but it is a damn good looking also.
Call it what you want: going green, recycling… etc, but this is how street fixed gear/single speed cycling started. You take an old frame and convert it to a kick ass street bike. No need to spend thousands of dollars on a brand new shiny bike.
Here is some info from Cody, rider who put together this bike:
“I have a single speed road bike, frame is by Mohawk. I originally found this bike in the trash, I’ve put some Alex DA28 Rims and Vittoria Rando’s and a San Marco Rolls saddle, everything else is original. I live in Cape Coral, Florida. Just thought I would show you guys what I’m working on.” Our hats go off to you Cody for a job well done. Let us know if you do any other mods on this bike.
I was browsing the web and came across Fixed Gear Leeds a site I usually check out and they posted a bike with no spec’s besides it’s owned by a guy name craig haha.. I actually like this bike, not sure if its the rear wheel or what.. but it caught my eye.. check it out!
We met up with John from BeerPanda.com to check out his new Felt Curbside.
I have to say I really like the colors and the setup of the bike.. I do think they made it with too small of a front gear, it gets up and goes for sure.. but you gotta max out really fast. So we hit the streets of St.Pete to find a good spot to shoot some pics of the BeerPanda Felt. In doing so, we came across a left for dead Colt 45 trailer.. how perfect for the beer panda shoot..
Go check out Beer Panda @ Durty Nelly’s on Sunday nights for beer pong tournments for Cash $$!!!
About a week ago, one of our fans decided to take a plunge and convert her old LeMond Buenes Aires bike to a single speed. Since she haven’t been riding in a while, she decided to wait on a fixed gear setup and to start with single speed… just to be safe.
We decided to take her bike to 66Fixed bike shop and after talking to Michael about options, we decided to keep it simple. Michael did a nice job doing a quick single speed conversion on the rear wheel and the crankset. To add a little bit of style to her bike, she chose some yellow and red tires and a pair of nice black pedals… hey, nothing like pimping out your first fixie/single speed bike.
Here are some pics we’ve taken of her “new” Lemond bike on a test ride around downtown Saint Petersburg Florida.
Urban1Cycle is going to start featuring monthly bikes, if you think your bike is sick enough.. contact us about it.. if your local (Florida) area we will do a photoshoot for you…
